What it is

A certification result is the installer's proof that the link passed on the day it was handed over. When a link fails a year later, or a customer disputes the work, the file is the answer. That only works if the file still exists, can be found by project, and is the original rather than a printout.

How Demarc does it

Each project in Demarc keeps its uploaded native files and exports, the parsed results per link, and the kits built from them. Files are kept in durable object storage, not on the app server's disk, and the native file is kept exactly as uploaded.

If your subscription ends, the account turns read-only: you can no longer add or change data, and every export keeps working, so the files and reports stay downloadable.

The bar Demarc is held to

The live service reports its storage at /version; today it reads "backend": "s3", "durable": true. A test fails the build if the app would boot on throwaway disk without saying so, another checks a downloaded native file against the upload byte-for-byte, and the cancel tests check that writes are refused and exports still work after a subscription ends.

What the usual tools leave to you

Desktop reporting software keeps the file of record on one office PC unless it is uploaded to a cloud service separately; a lost or replaced PC takes the proof with it.

Questions

Why keep certification results after the job is paid?
Because installers warranty their own work, and the result file proves the link passed when it was handed over.
Are my files kept if I stop paying for Demarc?
The account becomes read-only and exports keep working, so you can still download every file and report.
Does Demarc keep the original file or a converted copy?
The original. Native .flw and .prx files are stored exactly as uploaded.
